The world’s largest edtech pitch competition for early-stage digital learning and workforce skills startups has shortlisted Kwame AI, the AI teaching assistant, as a semifinalist for the 2023 GSV Cup. As a semifinalist, the startup will compete for a prize pool of $500,000 in non-dilutive capital + $500,000 in prizes.

Kwame AI (formerly SuaCode.ai) is an AI-powered teaching assistant. The platform enables students to ask questions about the West African Secondary School Examination (WASSCE) science subjects and get instant answers and relevant diagrams. In addition, Kwame AI provides the top 5 past WASSCE questions related to their question, the correct answer, an explanation for the answer, and which year it appeared.

Named in honour of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president, Kwame AI is currently available for Integrated Science, with more subjects to be added. The startup was founded by Ghanaian co-founders Dr George Jojo Boateng and Dr Victor Kumbol to democratize education by leveraging artificial intelligence technology.
