Sesi Technologies, the agritech company, has taken over the scaling activities for post-harvest technologies that they co-developed with the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for the Reduction of Post-Harvest Loss. The lab has played a critical role in developing several necessary post-harvest technologies over the past nine years, such as the GrainMate Moisture Metre and ZeroFly Hermetic Bag, which have benefited numerous local and international farmers.
As a private-sector partner of the lab, Sesi Technologies has been working closely to commercialize and scale these technologies. With the lab’s work in Ghana ending, Sesi Technologies has taken on the responsibility to continue its impact by further scaling these crucial technologies with new partners.
Adopting post-harvest technologies is crucial for reducing food waste and loss after harvest. According to estimates, up to 30% of food produced is lost after harvest. By utilizing basic essential technologies, such as the GrainMate Moisture Meter and ZeroFly Hermetic Bag, these losses can be significantly reduced, unlocking value for the value chain and reducing agriculture’s contribution to climate change.
