Google kicks off its first accelerator for the Middle East and Africa by introducing the inaugural Google for Startups Accelerator: Climate Change cohort, which is focused on tech and climate-focused startups in the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa region.

The cohort is launching a week-long boot camp week for 11 climate change-focused startups, offering guidance, mentorship, skill-building, and networking opportunities to empower and elevate these innovative companies.

A Ghanaian startup, SolarTaxi, happens to be a part of these 11 selected startups. Through the provision of locally built electric vehicles, SolarTaxi aims to promote the expansion and adoption of sustainable transportation.
The other startups include Nadeera (Beirut), NeedEnergy (Zimbabwe), Octavia Carbon (Nairobi), IWROBOTX (Turkey), Uvera, ArabiaWeather (Amman), Ecording (Turkey), and Sentra.world (United Arab Emirates), CarbonSifr (United Arab Emirates), and Seabex (Tunisia).
