Student-founded startup Naamgwinaa Technologies Scores GH¢250,000 as winner of the 2024 NEIP Presidential Pitch.

Naamgwinaa Technologies has been named the winner of the 2024 National Entrepreneurship & Innovation Programme (NEIP) Presidential Pitch. Led by Samuel Naamgwimaa, an Electrical Engineering student from the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), the startup developed the Smart Switch, an innovative device that optimizes energy management and automation for homes, businesses, and public infrastructure.

The Smart Switch impressed the judges with its versatility, capable of controlling everything from room lighting and streetlights to cars and air conditioners. Samuel’s vision is to revolutionize energy use and automation, positioning his company as a leader in the electronics and energy efficiency sectors.

As part of the prize, Samuel was awarded GHS 250,000, which includes GHS 50,000 as a personal donation from President Akufo-Addo.

Hullnovation produces wood from plastic waste and rice husk, reducing environmental impact and promoting eco-friendly building materials.

8th Place (GHS 80,000)

Ecovon converts coconut husk and sugarcane waste into wood products, driving sustainability in the construction and furniture industries.

9th Place (GHS 80,000)

Verte Tower innovates vertical farming solutions to promote efficient agricultural practices in urban spaces.

10th Place (GHS 80,000)

GreenHeart Se produces biochar and wood vinegar, contributing to eco-friendly farming and waste management solutions.
