My Power App, a Ghanaian startup focused on empowering girls and women, has been chosen to participate in the prestigious NBA Africa Triple-Double Startup Accelerator. Created by the Power to Girls Foundation, My Power App is one of ten innovative startups selected from seven African countries to pitch their products at Demo Day, which will take place at NBA headquarters in New York City on September 25, 2024.

Joining My Power App in the competition are notable startups such as Backrest (Rwanda), Buzza (Nigeria), Festival Coins (Nigeria), Gara (Côte d’Ivoire), HustleSasa (Kenya), Naemo Global (Nigeria), Salubata (Nigeria), UBR VR (Egypt), and Vambo Technologies (South Africa). These ten finalists will compete for top prizes, ranging from $20,000 to $50,000 in cash, as well as in-kind support such as mentorship and development programs.

Founded by Aisha Addo in 2020, My Power App offers a social connection and mentorship platform specifically for girls and women aged 13-20. The platform provides educational resources, confidential helplines, and access to a network of mentors, with the goal of addressing critical areas such as personal development, mental health, and education for young women.
