Two Ghanaian startups, AppCyclers and Minana Services, have each secured £100,000 in grant funding from the TRANSFORM Impact Accelerator — a collaborative initiative backed by Unilever, the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and EY. The program supports high-impact enterprises that address environmental and social challenges across Africa and Asia.
AppCyclers is transforming Ghana’s electronic waste landscape by turning discarded electronics into economic opportunity. Through digital tools and community engagement, the company is helping build a responsible e-waste recycling culture that protects people and the planet.
Minana Services is revolutionizing the production of organic edible oils in Ghana. By employing sustainable farming practices that avoid chemical applications, the company produces high-quality palm oil, palm kernel oil, coconut oil, and groundnut oil. Additionally, Minana Services converts palm waste into biogas for green energy and has introduced a refill system to reduce plastic waste, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability.
The Ghanaian startups are among five ventures selected in West Africa. The three Nigerian recipients of the £500,000 fund include Chanja Datti, Planet 3R, and Scrapays. In addition to funding, all five companies will benefit from business development support from Unilever and EY.
