Funding
Jetstream Africa secures additional funding from Cauris Finance to expand its trade finance portfolio.
Jetstream Africa, a fast-growing player in Africa’s e-logistics and trade finance landscape, has secured new capital from Cauris Finance, reinforcing a strategic partnership that began in 2022. This latest round marks Cauris’s third investment in Jetstream.
Jetstream’s digital platform integrates freight forwarding, customs brokerage, trade finance, and real-time cargo tracking, making it easier for SMEs to manage their supply chains. The funding will be used to strengthen Jetstream’s ability to support small and medium-sized importers across West Africa.
Complete Farmer secures €2.2 million to scale fulfilment centres and reach more smallholder farmers.
Complete Farmer, the agritech improving market access and productivity for smallholder farmers, has secured €2.2 million ($2.5 million) from the European Union-funded AgriFI facility, managed by EDFI Management Company. The financing will support the construction of six new fulfilment centres – hubs for aggregation, quality control, and logistics in the northern regions. Targeting areas with limited market access and agricultural infrastructure, the financing will stimulate rural employment, improve farmer incomes, and shorten value chains, impacting 5,000 farmers.
Milkywire backs Carboneers and Planboo’s biochar project through a pre-purchase carbon credit deal.
Milkywire’s Climate Transformation Fund has backed Planboo and Carboneers’ biochar project in Ghana through a pre-purchase agreement for carbon removal credits, helping to scale their biochar initiative. Since most carbon removal projects struggle to secure early funding due to being perceived as high-risk investments, Milkywire’s Climate Transformation Fund offers pre-purchase agreements that pay projects upfront for future carbon removal.
Planboo and Carboneers partner with small-scale farmers in Ghana to convert farm waste, such as husks and stalks, into biochar—a charcoal-like substance that sequesters carbon. When mixed into soil, biochar not only stores carbon but also enhances soil health, thereby helping crops grow more effectively. Farmers earn extra income by supplying waste materials. To ensure accuracy, Planboo’s digital tracking platform is used to measure the amount of carbon removed and stored, providing transparency for buyers.
