Blossom Academy, the talent accelerator company, has been selected as one of the portfolio partners of the African Visionary Fund. The grant funding will enable Blossom Academy to accelerate its impact.

Blossom Academy bridges Africa’s tech skills gap with tailored 12-week data science fellowships in data analytics, data science, data engineering and artificial intelligence. Blossom Academy brings together industry partners, students, world-class education, and a dedicated team under one roof to bridge the longstanding gap between industry and education. This bridge allows students to work on real projects and receive mentorship and internship opportunities.

The academy also identifies and recruits economically disadvantaged graduates interested in data science for fully sponsored boot camps, with a strong commitment to increasing the representation of women in the field.

Led by Jeph Acheampong, the startup aims to create a pathway for untapped African talents to develop data skills, help them enter the evolving job market, and empower them to establish lasting livelihoods. Before founding Blossom Academy, Jeph was a founding member of Esusu Financial, the New York-based fintech unicorn company leveraging data solutions to empower tenants and improve property performance.

As part of the grant cycle, the African Visionary Fund (AVF) has committed $2.7 million to support the 12 portfolio organisations, expanding its portfolio to 35 African-founded and led organisations. AVF’s total commitments to African-led organisations have now reached $8.2 million. The AVF is a pooled grantmaking mechanism that channels unrestricted funding to high-impact African social changemakers transforming development across the continent.
