The Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak has appointed Delali Anku-Adiamah, the founder and CEO of Waya Money, as the club’s new Managing Director.
As the newly appointed Managing Director of the club, he will assume a pivotal leadership role within the organisation. His responsibilities will encompass various duties to drive the club’s success and advance its strategic objectives. He is expected to control and oversee all the club’s operations, people and subsidiaries. The role spans collaborating with other department heads to manage football activities, player recruitment, and administrative functions to foster stakeholder relationships and ensure compliance with governance standards. Ultimately, his leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future trajectory and sustainability of Accra Hearts of Oak as a leading football club in Ghana and beyond.
He currently serves as the CEO of the venture-backed fintech startup Waya Money. Backed by prominent investors such as Launch Africa Ventures and Google’s Black Founders Fund, Waya Money facilitates cross-border and cross-network transfers and payments across Africa. Their services are available in Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and Nigeria.
Prior to WayaMoney, He worked at the Finance Department of Manchester United, Accenture as the Technology Consultant Manager, Markit as Vice President, Professional Services CodedRed RMS, FactSet as Senior Implementation Specialist, Autonomy, an HP Company as the Technical Specialist (Pre-Sale). He holds a PhD in Computational Systems Biology from the University of Manchester and a BSc in Computer Science with Business Management from the University of Birmingham.
