Aide Chemists, a tech-enabled pharmacy chain, has been selected for the Home-Grown Solutions Accelerator for Pandemic Resilience in Africa by the African Union Development Agency in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Accra, Aide Chemists operates over 20 pharmacy outlets across Ghana, primarily in suburban and rural areas. The company serves over 20,000 registered clients and impacts over 30,000 patients monthly through medication dispensing, counseling, and diagnostic services.

The accelerator program provides selected companies with customized advisory services, investment readiness assistance, and connections to strategic partners.

Climate

Wahu Mobility taps into the global carbon credit market with approval of Swiss-Ghana backed e-bike project.

Ghanaian electric mobility company Wahu Mobility has officially received approval for its carbon credit program under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement, marking a major milestone in Africa’s clean transportation and climate finance landscape. The authorisation allows Wahu to sell carbon credits, known as Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs), to Switzerland.

Wahu will manufacture and deploy over 117,000 electric bicycles across Ghana by 2030 as part of the project. These e-bikes, designed to replace traditional petrol-powered motorcycles, are expected to eliminate more than 752,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The revenue from these carbon credits will support Wahu’s efforts to scale clean mobility in a market where upfront vehicle costs are often out of reach for many workers.

Eco-Bliss Climate receives initial government support from Ghana and Singapore for a carbon credit project in the Upper West region.

Eco-Bliss Climate has reached a key first step in launching a major carbon credit project in Ghana’s Upper West Region, receiving initial support from the governments of Ghana and Singapore. The project aims to cut 3.6 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent by 2030 through improved agricultural land management over 91,000 hectares. The endorsements include a Letter of Intent from Ghana’s Environmental Protection Agency and Ministry of Environment, and a Letter of Support from Singapore’s National Environment Agency. With this early backing, Eco-Bliss will now prepare a detailed Project Design Document (PDD) under the Verified Carbon Standard, outlining emission reduction methods and monitoring plans, which is essential for independent validation and future carbon credit registration.

Funding

Kosmos Innovation Center invests $200,000 in 22 startups via its incubator.

The Kosmos Innovation Center, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, has invested $200,000 in 22 startups as part of its 2025 AgriTech Pro program, which provides seed funding to ventures across the agricultural value chain. The investment follows the program’s final pitch event, which marked the culmination of the five-month accelerator.

Pure Lube and EcoBroma Ghana were the top winners, receiving $25,000 and $20,000, respectively. Pure Lube manufactures biodegradable lubricants as an alternative to synthetic lubricants in the automotive industry, while EcoBroma Ghana processes cocoa pulp into cocoa juices and other industrial products.

Talent

VC4A, Africa’s leading marketplace for entrepreneur-investor collaboration, appoints Yaw Preprah to lead special projects.

VC4A, Africa’s premier platform connecting entrepreneurs, investors, and mentors, has appointed Yaw Preprah as Lead for Special Projects. In this role, he will spearhead key initiatives to accelerate the growth and impact of Africa’s burgeoning startup ecosystem.

Peprah steps into the role of taking the lead on coordinating the Africa Early Stage Investor Summit (AESIS). AESIS, co-hosted by VC4A and the African Business Angel Network (ABAN), is recognized as the continent’s premier gathering of early-stage investors and ecosystem stakeholders. It serves as a platform for dialogue, deal-making, and collaboration among the most influential voices in Africa’s venture capital ecosystem.

Milestone

Freezelink and Revna Biosciences named on Bloomberg’s Top 25 African Startups to Watch in 2025.

Freezelink and Revna Biosciences were named among Bloomberg’s inaugural list of 25 innovative African startups to watch in 2025, selected from over 2,000 applicants. Founded in 2018 by Owusu Akoto Owusu, Freezelink addresses Africa’s cold chain challenges by offering solar-powered cold storage, refrigerated delivery, and real-time temperature monitoring, helping smallholder farmers and health providers reduce waste and preserve product quality. Revna Biosciences, led by Dr. Derrick Edem Akpalu, pioneers precision medicine in West Africa with genomic sequencing and molecular profiling to tailor treatments, operating the region’s first dual ISO-accredited lab for diagnostics and biobanking, and partnering with global biotech leaders like QIAGEN and AstraZeneca to expand access to targeted therapies.
