Arm, a leading semiconductor and software design company, has opened five new (E³)NGAGE labs in Ghana to support future tech innovation across Africa. These labs are part of Arm’s efforts to engage, educate, and cultivate local technology ecosystems in emerging markets, starting with countries in Africa.

The labs are equipped with tools, hardware, testing, and training equipment from the Arm ecosystem and are open to ecosystem stakeholders within the community. They have been set up in partnership with several educational and entrepreneurial institutions in Ghana, including Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Cape Coast, Academic City University College, Makersplace Ghana, and the Office of Global Partnerships, US State Department.

According to the company, the decision to expand into Ghana was due to its vibrant network of technical universities with solid engineering faculties and a growing community of start-ups, developers, and students. The labs will serve as centres for Arm’s communities of practice, which include academia, developers, start-up incubation, and industry acceleration that support the design of Arm-based technology solutions. Arm’s ecosystem successes across Africa have accelerated the company’s ambitions around launching additional labs as it expands across the continent.
